adidas drops the laceless ACE 16+ Purecontrol With a new episode of Adidas Gamedayplus video series up at 20:45 CET today, it seems a safe bet that the full announcement will be made there. Stay tuned for more details on the cutting-edge next-generation Adidas Ace GTI 2016 boots throughout the day.Dubbed the ACE 16+ Purecontrol, Adidas' newest wheels do away with conventional laces and use a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) cage to secure the middle part of the foot. There's also an internal locking system and the upper section is made from a combination of open and loose knitted structures, something called Primeknit which featured in Adidas' all-in-one boot/sock hybrid concept from 2014.

What you're looking at here is the new Shock Blue adidas ACE 16+ Purecontrol 鈥?the latest colour update for the laceless design and the colourway that Adidas pool of ACE players competing in the 2016 European Championships and the Copa America this summer will wear up until their respective tournaments kick off. ADIDAS ACE 16+ PURE CONTROL FG AG BLACK GREEN At first glance the pure controls may look like a pair of comfy socks that just slide right onto your feet but that's not the case. There's a lot of layers to this cleat that you can not see unless it's in your hand.

The sole plate of the Adidas Ace GTI is the exact same one as used for the regular Adidas Ace 16.1 and the knitted Adidas Ace 16+ Primeknit football boots. Completely redesigned from the FG / AG alignment introduced by the Adidas Ace 15 cleats, it boasts a much more traditional layout, designed to offer traction and control. Albeit its still marketed for both firm ground (FG) and artificial grass (AG) surfaces, the Adidas Ace GTI 2016 boots' sole plate doesn't feature the second layer of studs which made the mixed design a success for the previous generation.

The back of the cleat is a bit unique as well. The cut is the PrimeCut collar which was their response to Nike's mid-cut still on the Obras. It looks mid-cut but doesn not really do anything at all. It extends it a little higher so no structional integrity really.

ADIDAS ACE 16+ PURE CONTROL FG AG BLACK GREEN Tech-wise its as you were with the adidas ACE 16+ Purecontrol. Focusing on ultimate control, adidas have removed the laces to create the cleanest of ball contact areas that moulds around the foot for optimum comfort and sock-like fit. The larger striking area also benefits shooting as power and accuracy are maximised by the removal of any distractions and impediments. adidas drops the laceless ACE 16+ Purecontrol Adidas hasn't been afraid to test the waters when it comes to offbeat footwear. Between 3D printed running shoes, connected soccer cleats and football boots that appear more like socks, the German sports giant has been quite willing to publicly document its penchant for experimentation. In its latest foray, Adidas has done away with a staple of most covered footwear and launched a laceless football boot that's to be worn in-game by some of the world's top players this weekend.
